Beyond the development folder.
The packaging, versioning and recovery work that sits between working code and a usable application release.
RELEASE WORKWhat needs to travel with an application so another person can run, identify and maintain it?

What’s on the bench.
The CDR project has a feature-locked development baseline and a separate release branch. Its September release-preparation history includes application metadata, an edition-specific retention rule and an obfuscated build pipeline.
What the work is showing.
The source baseline and the distributable package serve different purposes. The release needs an identifiable version and the runtime and supporting files expected by its startup process.
The local workspace review found a release worktree whose Git reference still pointed to an earlier folder location. The files existed, but that was not enough to establish a healthy repository connection.
Packaging also connects to documentation and recovery. Startup instructions, configuration, persistent data and rollback need to agree with the package someone receives.
Where it goes from here.
- Resolve the release worktree reference before relying on it for new release work.
- Validate a packaged build separately from the development copy.
- Check that version information, startup instructions and recovery steps describe the same release.
